Online Ads Establish Good Base
Online advertising is booming in Ireland, new figures have revealed. According to the first the Breakdown of Advertising Share and Expenditure (Base) for online advertising, EUR639,000 was recorded for the month of September - putting it on a par with cinema advertising in Ireland.
However, this figure is considered an underestimate; only five of the ten companies who registered to submit their figures actually did so, meaning the figure could potentially be double or more.
Base is the official advertising expenditure measurement service for Ireland, and currently includes data from TV, press, magazines, radio, outdoor advertising and cinema advertising.
Internet advertising is also on the up elsewhere, with the latest figures from PricewaterhouseCoopers and the Interactive Advertising Bureau showing a record quarter in the US market. Advertising revenue for the third quarter set new records, exceeding USD3 billion for the first time, and is predicted to hit the USD12 billion mark for the year.
