Online Advertising to Reach Nine Percent of Total Ad Spend by 2011

Paid search is the primary driver of growth in the online advertising market, having overtaken display advertising in 2005, and it will remain the largest component over the next five years, driving online ad spend to nearly one-tenth of total U.S. ad spend, according to a new report from JupiterResearch. Online Ad Spending Predicted To Soar 35% Internationally

Online ad spending will climb to $11.6 billion internationally this year--marking a growth rate of 35 percent, predicted Merrill Lynch. For 2007, the international online ad spend is projected to climb to $14.5 billion, marking 24 percent growth. Read more.

Search Queries Surge 30%

U.S. web users conducted 6.3 billion searches last month--up 30 percent from July of 2005, according to new data from comScore's qSearch unit. Google sites drew 43.7 percent of all online searches last month whilst Yahoo sites garnered 28.8 percent. Read more.
