The techniques you use to promote your website in search engines can also be used to achieve online visibility for your latest press release. Think of your press release as a one page website. Optimize that page for the search engines. Promote the page online and consider using sponsored listings to increase reach.
Top 10 Tips for Search Engine Friendly Online Public Relations:
- Include keywords in the title and repeat them a number of times in the body of the press release.
- Substitute keywords for "it" and "its" within the text of the press release.
- Instead of using brand names, describe the product or service. "Financial Accounting Software" is better then "Blue Whale Accounts".
- Publish the press release on your own website and link to it from the homepage of your site.
- Consider using an online press release distribution news service such as www.prnewswire.com.
- Link from the article to your website and from your website to the article wherever it appears outside your site. Use a properly formatted URL, http://www.mydomain.com, not mydomain.com.
- Encourage users to click through to other articles or pages on your website.
- Blogs often have high search engine rankings. So, a discussion of your new product or event in a blog will help your online visibility.
- Pay-Per-Click listings in Google, Yahoo Search Marketing and other engines have the benefit of being easy to implement and controllable. Consider conducting a sponsored listing campaign with links through to your press release on your website.
- Submit the press release page to relevant search engines using the paid listings facility.
